JC Romero given 50 game ban
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher JC Romero has been suspended for 50 games after testing positive for a banned performance-enhancing substance, Major League Baseball (MLB) said on Tuesday. Romero's ban will be effective from the start of the 2009 season, MLB said in a statement.

| Winner in Cubs sale process to be picked this week
CHICAGO (Reuters) - The winner in the long-awaited sale of the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball team will be identified this week, three sources close to the process said on Tuesday. "Bidders have been told a single party to negotiate with will be chosen this week," said one source, who asked not to be identified because the sale has not closed.
